Can you confirm an old tang stamp for me. The name is Union Cutlery Warranted all three words are over each other and the other blade has what looks like figure 8 on its side like the infintity sign. I bought this knife last weekend and I would like to know for sure if its an Union Cutlery Co. the "warranted" is throwing me off.

I would like some pictures to be sure but I think the "figure 8" is really supposed to be two ropes forming a union knot.

This Union Cutlery was NOT the one from Tidioute and later on Olean NY. It was out of Chicago I think!!! Parker used the knot on a repro with the Union Tidoute tang stamp, but he didn't know they weren't related. It is an older knife, but NOT a Union Cutlery of Olean. Hope this helps guys. Great stuff

Thanks David, That certainly clears things up for me. Can i assume if I come across a tang stamp in the future that reads "warranted" along with Union Cutlery that it is not from Tidioute or Olean?

You are correct in your statement. The two are unrelated
