Thank you, Kevin!  This is actually one of my favorite knives in my collection (something about that grammar doesn't feel right, but I'm running with it).  The micarta handle scales are filling in the hand, the blade is thin enough to slice but it's large & machete-like, & the blade profile is a leaf-shape that just isn't easy to find in machetes, or other large knives...  I'd have preferred a Kydex Sheath, but the leather sheath fits the kit well.  And yes, it was hard to drop over $100 on a machete when it was for sale, new -- can't imagine dropping $200 or $300 on it today...

The one thing I can't attest to is how it holds up under use.  I didn't mean for it to become a safe queen, but it definitely has (or maybe more accurately, a Homer Bucket queen!)...

In my opinion, this is awesome sauce!  And those things are not cheap!

That handle design is using the 'old' style attachment.  The 'new' style is using tube and a flare tool.  Aesthetically, I think yours is nicer, but I am thinking that for a mechanical connection, the flared tubes may be stronger.

That Andy Roy I mentioned in my Hammer-In comment?  He is the owner of Fiddleback Forge.  :)  Real cool guy.  And he makes good hot sauce too!
