Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

The time has come to start the discussion on the 2014 iKC knife.

I would again like to shoot for August/Sept delivery date.  Something to remember while we talk about this is that a short run of only 50 or so knives means we need to tie in with a maker that is already running a knife and tweak that one to make it our own.  The reason for this is most SFO's require a minimum order of 250 or more.  Also I would like to keep it less than $125.00 delivered to you.  I have some eyes checking out whats available at a factory or two but always love to hear your ideas.  Remember, this is YOUR knife

Here is a pic of the official annual knives we have done so far

I wonder which pattern and brand has the most votes right now? I am sure we will hear a lot more opinions, though.

Hi Robert,

Style wise, Stockman and Barlow seem to be hot. A gentleman's single blade from a top maker would be special In my humble opinion, but the trend seems to be toward last years maker (Queen) and toward a bone handle. People want Mastodon bark handles that is clear, but scary for some.

The outdoor guys like a fixed blade, but living in Chicago, I want a cool collector's item for daily carry something that will get a patina as it is handled, like sculpture...

Ka-Bar Coppersmith Barlow came up recently and looks like an antique when it is new (that is cool!)

it is an exciting conversation for sure!

Best,

Luke

Still say this would be my first choice, the man makes exceptional knives!

how about a small fix blade. This Riley is a local Montana knife maker. I can get contact info if anyone is interested.

Very nice !

Might be time for a reminder that the target price for the 2014 iKC knife is around $125.

We can get a mighty fine knife for $125.

Yep I agree with Howard and Robert about the price point. We can get something nice that should be affordable to most not just a few.

It ain't Howard.  I'm just the messenger (remindererererer).  The target was set by Jan on the introduction of the topic, and at the top of every page, like this one.

125 is the max I would like to see also LOL.  Dont forget forget, it has to fit in my own knife budget also LOL

Historically for the club knives if I can get them in the 125.00 or less price point I can get them sold and no one feels too much of a crunch

Yes I understand that it wasn't you that set the price point but were just reminding us the price as was set long ago.
I like that price and we should be able to get something nice for that. I also like lots of the ideas being presented, just not that practical for our price.
I also still like the idea of Mr. Daniels having free reign over it and see what he can do since his saving us last time. I believe we would get something SPECIAL just because he's that kind of person.

I just need to cast my vote when Jan puts up the Club knife poll.

Barlow      - Yes

Stockman - Yes

Scout       - Yes(full size)

Bone        - Yes

Wood       - Yes

That's what I'm talkin bout!!!!
Mighty fine choices ya got there. I'd be happy if that was the list to pick from. It would make for a fine knife.
