Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

The time has come to start the discussion on the 2014 iKC knife.

I would again like to shoot for August/Sept delivery date.  Something to remember while we talk about this is that a short run of only 50 or so knives means we need to tie in with a maker that is already running a knife and tweak that one to make it our own.  The reason for this is most SFO's require a minimum order of 250 or more.  Also I would like to keep it less than $125.00 delivered to you.  I have some eyes checking out whats available at a factory or two but always love to hear your ideas.  Remember, this is YOUR knife

Here is a pic of the official annual knives we have done so far

at a.g.russell the penunt with the mammoth was 125 the stockmen was 199 so it was a little high but on the other hand it would make a great collecter

i saw the copper head barlow by ka-bar and would be up for that

125$ is a great price point. i own tons of club knives though and i was looking and almost none..only one stag ,burnt stag piece was only 119$..AND THAT WAS STAG!  GEC will always have my vote at least for now. i own enough of them and i own enough of the club knives made by them. when you produce a club knife with all the trimmings the club could want!! and you come in 1-2$ less then what your normal production of the knife costs...that rocks!

BUCK 110 CUSTOM SHOP elk handles ,finger grooves BG-42!

Peter,

Hahahaha.  I tried your Custom Buck 110 just to see if it was possible, but S30V was the only "exotic" steel currently available in the Custom Shop, and no finger groove.  Elk handles were available, though ($161.00).  I did find a couple Buck 110s in BG-42 on eBay in the $300.-$400. range - wood scales.

Howard,

I just did the Buck custom shop and Finger Groove frames are available for an additional charge.

110 - Elk handles, Finger grooves frame, S30V & nickel bolsters = $171.00.

I have no idea what quantity discounts would be.

Brad,

Yep, there is a check box for finger groove.  I missed it the first time through.  I did some additional research and found that Buck discontinued a BG-42 option around 2008, according to a discussion on BladeForums.  It was also mentioned that the gov./aerospace has/had big contracts for BG-42, but apparently it wasn't for mil. knives.

hey Howard!! glad ya got a laugh!  ..when i tossed it up their it was a last second though.i knew the knife could be done BUT i didnt know they stopped the BG-42. -thank you!..

also it sorta was meant to be a laugh .. as i have seen a few other posts where i dont know if they were meant to be joking or just wishing ..but other posts where its HUNDREDS of dollars away from 125$mark.

what i said about GEC is how i feel... when you put all companies under the SCOPE for a club knife and your talking BANG for your BUCK..  its the way to go.. again IMO!..  {i know i have plenty with rubs myself}

i own a few BUCK CUSTOM shop knives. but all eBay SNAGs!..  a BUCK is always ..IMO- a great knife..

all i know is for 125$ their are so many club knives that come in at 80$-100$ {within the companies we dicuss}..that for 125$ ... the IKC CLUB KNIFE should be one talked about!

lets get the #85 GEC with the SREWDRIVER BLADE.. its like a tear drop TL-29!.. awesome knives and already has been done so it wont be a new setup!. again just spitting out ideas!!.. THANX ALL!!!

and yes you were dead on.. i didnt read any further but the BIG BRO decide they needed most or all of the BG-42.

why and for what and when and all ..i didnt read that far.

I see a lot of knife patterns listed along with handle materials and would be happy with any of them. The price point is ok but I will have to be pinching dimes but I know to get a quality knife $125 is not a lot anymore. I do like the idea of the Daniels family being involved as they treat us right. Will be excited to see the final choice and want to included to own one of this years knife. Thanks to everyone who puts all the work in to achieve fantastic results.

Well, it wasn't a big laugh.  Thanks to Brad T. checking, you can actually design a nice Buck 110 - with finger grooves.  S30V is no slouch either, but the price point is a bit high.  Nevertheless, nothing stopping anyone from building one for themselves.  I knew that the Tony Bose BG-42s were way high, and maybe the reason is the scarcity of BG-42, in addition to it being hard on blanking tools.

Also, it was mentioned that BG-42 was originally rolled steel, but that someone figured out how to make it a powdered steel like S30V, so maybe more knives will come along with a powdered steel version.

hey howard ..any laugh..even small.. is great!.. and i did some more homework. i see CASE SLIMLOCKS still for sale with BG-42. i forget that they made them with that steel. also i have posted a few times that any knife like that.iwhere buck wants 175$ opr whatever.. i would grab a BUCK 110 for 40$ of the bay...send it off to my customization fella..and have it elked and finger grooves added and come in at about anywhere from 80-115$.. thats including the 40$ i spent on the BUCK. and shipping... and it would be a better knife that i know for sure.
