Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

The time has come to start the discussion on the 2014 iKC knife.

I would again like to shoot for August/Sept delivery date.  Something to remember while we talk about this is that a short run of only 50 or so knives means we need to tie in with a maker that is already running a knife and tweak that one to make it our own.  The reason for this is most SFO's require a minimum order of 250 or more.  Also I would like to keep it less than $125.00 delivered to you.  I have some eyes checking out whats available at a factory or two but always love to hear your ideas.  Remember, this is YOUR knife

Here is a pic of the official annual knives we have done so far

What do you have to do to become one of the fifty?

Once a knife is decided upon, just pre-pay for it.  The information will be posted here as we get closer to choosing a 2014 knife.  I think Jan will order 50 minimum, and possibly more if the pre-pay orders total more than 50.  50 seems to be the "magic" number because there are usually 50 of us willing to buy an iKC club knife - past club knife offerings.

Easy as that! Money talks! Lol.

Do we have a cut off time for the ideas or are we floating these by manufacturing to see what's available in our price line and pick from there?

Peter,

The ONLY thing you need to do to "become one of the fifty"  is state that you want one once a Pattern and a Company has been chosen. The number 50 is nothing more than a realistic number of knives that will be purchased by Members. If, for instance, Jan went out on a limb for a higher amount, say 100, and then she (iKC) could only sell 50 or 60...Well, as you might imagine, she would end up having to eat 40 or 50 excess knives. That's why We (iKC) use 50 as a projected target number of knives to be produced. Because, over the years, that's usually right around the number of Members that will want to purchase our Community Knife. Capiche?

peter, usually there will be a pre-paid date given. everyone that pays by that date is pretty much guaranteed a knife. if you dont pay by that pre-pay date.. well you may not be able to get one.  depending on how may [extras] Jan can get..usually the facory will require a minimum and sometimes they make you buy a certain amount.no more or less. depends on the parts and supplies on hand for a particular order.... but, in the end.. it up to Jan..lol  just my 2 cents  :)

Peter,

No need to apologize. The greatest tool for learning is the Question. I'm glad you utilized that tool!

Have a great day, my friend!

Ron

I know what you mean Jeff. the first year I joined iKC the community knife had been chosen and put out and I tried to get one of the extras ordered but they were all gone. I missed the boat.

Max ,

Good question.  We are still floating the ideas through manufactures and this past week some folks gave us some good ideas to take a look at.  I usually try to have the decision in place right around Blade show.  That show gives me an opportunity to atually sit with a manufacture, see what they are thinking and negotiate

Great idea, Thanks!

Blade show is June 6-8 so we have some time. Very Cool!

Can't wait to see what we can get for our money!

I Garanteeee, Miss Jan will get us the best deal possible. She is a knife person that knows what type knife people like. If we give her the room to negotiate with the knife companies, she will make us a good deal. All we need to do is give her a general idea of what patterns we favor, she'll do the rest.
