Well, looks like I won't be hiding after all, (though my 'lil flags are up and waving already); just got told what I was going to do on the fourth, (told mind you, not asked; sigh). My daughter's mother (ex but friends) decided she was going to do a yard sale on the 4th, (I was afraid to ask why), and since I am supposedly the King Junker of the family I am required to be there, (apparently). Later that day OG, (other grandpa), is playing with his country band at their local fireworks show, so I'm supposed to take my grandson to see OG play, and then attend his very first fireworks show, (despite those pesky tourists). It's a 30 mile drive, which really sucks due to holiday traffic, (always a nightmare on the 4th around here), but it's worth it to hang with the kid. I'll take my "Acme Anti-Tourist" spray with me, and will try to get some pics. (If you have ever lived at a tourist destination you would completely empathize with my "I'm a local get outta my way" attitude).

Have a happy 4th everyone, me, I'll be "Hangin' with the Kid!"...(old Blues Brothers tune)

Wow, I'm feeling positively unpatriotic by NOT having any knives with stars, stripes, or patriotic sayings on them. Is that some kind of knife collecting rule or something?

Living in a tourist destination like I do I even avoid fireworks shows to avoid the crowds, (dang pesky tourists!!). I usually hide at home during these holiday occasions, though sometimes I can see the fireworks from my front door if the coastal overcast goes away, (we call it "June Gloom" around here). Guess I'll just have to live vicariously through others who show off their patriotic collectibles. Me, I'll just fly my 'lil flags on my fence and call it done. Enjoying the cool pics though.

Here is a Buck "Spirit of America".

Buck 525AMS Gent

This is a Buck commerative I bought in 1986; the copper medallion is said to be from the rework of the Statue of Liberty in that year.

A melting pot of knives

Looks like a flag to me, and like most everything else these days made up of mostly imported components. Looks like you could use a few more blue knives though.

Oh I've got more blue knives but I only used what was needed for the field.  Also have more red and white.

WOW  RED WHITE AND BLUE....Make you want to sing Yankee doodle dandy ! ! !

My entry.

A Nation Free

Today is a time for fireworks and fun
But we shouldn’t forget its reason.
This is one of the most important days
of the entire summer season.
Today’s the day our nation became free
and the date of the country’s birth.
For so many years we have grown to be
one of the best countries on earth.

Parker  1985 - 4-1/8" Trapper 1, brown grooved bone, main blade etched "Soddy '85 Daisy Beautiful Twin Cities w/US & TN flags extending from a flower" commemorating annual 4th of July Celebration, second blade etched "Trapper 1 w/raccoon in background, bolster engraved with #100, w/tan leather sheath.

Impressive knife flag!  Tim, the Parker is pretty awesome with its flags etch and it is one of the few existing in person and active knife clubs we have left!

Sue,

The last line of the hand written poem says it all for me...Yes, I am not alone but freedom is up to me!
