Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

This photo sequence tells why I shoot coyotes whenever I can.

In this picture something has alerted these two does.  Whenever multiple deer look in the same direction at the same time, something has attracted their attention.

In this picture, a few seconds later, the deer have bolted.

This picture, again just a few seconds later, shows the reason why the deer bolted.  The coyote is chasing them.

Coyotes will occasionally kill mature deer but they are particularly hard on fawns.  I have read that coyotes will kill up to a third of the fawn crop.  There are also bobcats in the area I hunt.  It is getting to the time of year I need to be out doing some varmint hunting.  The deer around here start dropping their fawns around the first of July.

We have been trying very hard not to attract them to our area but I fear if the goats remain as the heat goes up, they will come.  I do not want them for a variety of reasons, Charles, much like you I do not want the deer population on our mountain disturbed. The turkey population has just begun to hang around openly again and you can be assured coyote will put an end to that fun parade they do down the road

Jan, I think the coyotes and bobcats are also impacting the turkey population in my area too.  I have not seen or gotten as many pictures of turkeys this year as in the past few years.

Hey Folk'z,  I Luv ALL God'z, Heavenly Father, and the Great Spiritz' Creature'z.  I Guess Culling in some Instances, iz Necessary.  I'm NOT a Hunter, so "Go for what You know".  I Hope EVERYONE haz a SAFE and HAPPY MEMORIAL Day Weekend.  NEVER Forget "ALL Vet'z", were NOT for Them, We Wouldn't be Enjoying our "FREEDOM".  Nuff Said.

"Ya Neva Kno".

Michael, we are the home of the free because of the brave!

Coyotes are an invasive species here, sort of like the pythons in Florida.  Where I hunt there are very few rabbits and no quail at all.  I think coyotes and bobcats are the main reason.

 Charles,  !Right on Brutha!!

Coyotes are found on all the mountains around here but not necessarily on our side of ours.  Because we but up to the National forest service land, they tend to stay over there where the hunting is minimal.  We would like to keep it that way just so that we can protect what we do have living over here.  Our property is on an old logging road that has been re taken by the wildlife as a safe way to get to the lake from the tops. Big fat rabbits, healthy turkeys, healthy deer and a bear or two but at only about 2500 feet up the bear usually stay above us.

We set out corn and mineral blocks way up behind the house, Case is so used to them he hardly ever even notices them now
