The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
Nothing, I could just relate to it. There are a lot of scardy cats in my place:

is that a deadly weapon in your keys...LOL, yes stay still for about 2 hours while I hack away at your arm please
Thank you for the laughs, you can imagine how they respond when I (the lady in the room) pull out my knife. First assumption is that yes, she is crazy
It was obvious fairy quickly that the author's native language was not English -- which unfortunately made some for some unintentionally humorous phrasing. But it's also interesting that someone in the Philippines would experience such similar knife-paranoia as Americans (& many European countries, which admittedly I'm going off more anecdote & rumor than hard fact).
I'd guess similar things are occurring in other Asian countries, especially more westernized countries (Japan, e.g.), where pre-cut portions & pre-packaged, easy-open items have made knives a lot less necessary in daily living. (Side note: I'd hypothesize that this likely contributes to the "primitivization" (my word -- trademark me!) of knives, & by extension knife carriers.)
Just the same in the UK , "surely that's not legal" or "He's carrying a knife" are the usual responses to the site of a pocket knife.
I am just always amazed when it impacts someone if we pull out a knife. I really cannot remember any group of people (ok mostly men) I have spent any significant amount of time with that DONT carry a knife. Even a good many of the bankers had a pocket knife

" you got a license for that ? "

My answer "Nope .. as of Oct 2012 .. switchblades are legal carry in MO."
.
"Oh .. I didn't know that."
.
"That much was obvious, Ms."

Always wondered what it took to amaze a "crazy woman".
Thanks for the replies everyone. Man, been busy lately and I just opened my page :)
At my age, I simply don't hang around people that don't carry knives. I find them boring, ignorant, and a waste of my time. (getting that way about folks that don't have anvils to some extent as well)
LOL, Carl I own one by default?
Heck Jan, you're well connected - no worries.
