Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Okay, I don't know much about this, I only found out this weekend, but apparently OKC has shuddered their main / manufacturing facility, and they're set to be sold at the end of this month, July, 2023.

I first heard of this from YouTuber cutlerylover, but a YouTube search of "ontario knife" brings up video after video stating this news.  It seems to have been announced on or around July 13, 2023.  According to a forum thread on Bushcraft USA, multiple writers actually called Ontario Knife Company & were told that the company has been sold & they would not be taking new orders at this time.

One of the moderators on Blade Forums was apparently employed by OKC.  This moderator stated that the manufacturing facility in Franklinville, NY is set to close July 27, 2023.  This employee also states that the company is 134 years old, and that the last 121 years of the company were based in Franklinville, NY.  This employee did not name the buyer of OKC, but stated that the buyer is based in the State of Virginia.

Further down the same thread, it appears OKC's parent company, Servotronics, Inc., is likely dissolving the company, while knife distributor Blue Ridge Knives has purchased OKC's assets (inventory, manufacturing equipment, intellectual property, office furniture, etc.) for $2.1 million.  According to the employee another writer, Blue Ridge plans to completely dissolve OKC, thoiugh if it's an asset purchase agreement, Servotronics still owns the OKC entity, and any such liquidation decision would be made by Servotronics.  Servotronics, it appears, has had some costly legal difficulties of its own in recent years

A local group in Olean, NY tried to purchase OKC but apparently failed to do so, leaving 56 employees out of work.

The entire website, ontarioknife.com, is currently down, so contacting the company directly -- either for warranty, sales, or other communications -- will likely be difficult at best right now.

I'm researching as I'm writing this Discussion, and have just finally found this article in the Olean Times, in which OKC is considered to be in liquidation.  https://www.oleantimesherald.com/news/ontario-knife-co-in-franklinv...

So there it, I guess.  OKC is no more.  Buy those Ontarios you've been wanting now, while they're still available -- unless, that is, you were counting on those knives also being backed by a meaningful warranty.
