The American journal of psychology, Volume 21

I was doing the google walk, looking for pit carving info, and found this. Interesting "observations" here.
What do you expect from something from 1910?

very interesting  jj it says everything i did as a child. and i'm sure most of us here.of course i think we all carved or initials in a tree or a side of a barn or something like that.and had to act as daniel boone to see how good we was at sticking the knife from a distance. brings back good memmorie's ....but as ron say's people are scared to carry a knife now day's for fears of being arrested that's very sad.....

yep! back then, even when i was a lad, a boy could carry a pocket knife just about anywhere -- including the schoolyard. nowadays a knife in school is grounds for immediate expulsion. possibly an arrest? heck! do scouts even get to carry scout knives anymore? i can't remember the last time i saw anyone playing mumbly-peg?

.. that could have passed for results of a "current study" well into the 50's in rural WI .. a lot to be said for growing up in a rural farming community .. hehehe

.. had my kids @ my Mom's .. the old farmhouse I was raised in .. they found some of my handiwork .. wood floor of my old rm .. had to have been about 12/13 .. learning to throw a knife .. ooooops !!!
