The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
Hello all,
My favorite is a knife that was given to my grandfather when he worked at U.S.Steel.
It is stainless, has one small knife, and one file. It's engraving reads ” United states steel”.
One side of the blade says case xx ESS, the other side has a 7 and it looks like maybe the letter o, and the letter F.
Does anyone know anything about this knife? I'm sure it has to be rare.
Eagerly awaiting all your wisdom. Chuck

I have tried to post a picture or two but, can't get it to post. I use the upload button and all it does is show a wheel spinning around after I hit the add reply. Have i missed a step?
The most recent and most well known is a 3 1/2" jack knife that is often called a mini trapper. I believe they all have two blades. The master blade on these knives is normally a clip blade, and the other will be a pen or spey. The spey blade is most common on Cases more recent 07 knives. Most of the older knives will have a pen blade. They have been a regular in Cases' production line starting well before 1940.
Shown in pic is hubby's transitional knife...it is marked CASE XX but note it does have the Tested frame(Green Bone)
This is my favorite Case knife, I acquired it through a friend who's friend was the niece of the Mayor of Bradford Pa back in the late 40's and early 50's. This knife was given to the mayor as a gift from the Case family. The Mayor was Anthony P. De Palma and his name as you can see was engraved into the mother of pearl scales. It was called the Orange Blossom Gunstock Whittler. It was one of the more popular knife patterns of it's time. It also has leather pouch which is shown in the front. It's a great little knife and the blades are in great condition.
Here it is
