Pictures will help Johnathan, especially of the tang stamp and any shield or other marking. I checked one book but found nothing so needs more research or possibly more books! LOL Lets see what we can find.

Having trouble identifying the word Regeloso assuming German I can't find a definition. Although, the word Regel alone means Rule.

That was one of the things confusing me as well.  I have found another razor with the same emblem on the handle at the following Polish links  http://archiwumallegro.pl/stara_brzytwa_regeloso_bohler_stahl_dobry....  http://archiwumallegro.pl/search/16885925-regeloso.html   

It is more along the lines of Spanish for religious.  At least these online site similar to ebay has other razors of the same brand.  There do not seem to be very many around, but all were older razors.

Yes that is interesting Johnathon,  I would never have guessed Polish or a Spanish usage but somehow that connects them to Solingen. All appear to be razors from the 1950's if my translation is correct.

Can't vouch for the validity of this ... but ... interesting .

 

REINHARD GELDMACHER "REGELDSO" 1939 SOLINGEN GERMAN STEEL Geldmacher made razors in Solingen only in the year 1939. Most of them were probably bought by German Officers who would soon find themselves on the Eastern Front, because a great many of them ended up in Russia, where most of them are still found today. The name "Regeldso" derives from REgistered GELDmacher SOlingen", obviously aimed for sale in the West but that was terminated when the firm was taken over by Hitler's War Machine. Remember, it was in September 1939 that the Nazis launched their Blitzkrieg into Poland, to the amazement and fear of the Western Allies. They are said to work especially well on heavy beards and are described as an "awesome shave".

Thats a Good find Dale. I am glad you clarified that D, I never would have made that out! Now it makes more sense as a combination of words.  What a great history too if that other post you have is true. certainly explain a lot about his early work.

Thank you very much Dale.  It makes much more sense now.  It is one of the lighter straight razors that I own and still shaves pretty well.  It was a worthy investment prior to leaving Germany several years ago.
