Personally, I prefer a knice roll. Plenty of loops of varying sizes, to accommodate any knife. But, today's knife rolls are filled with elastic band loops that loose their snap after a while. Luckily I came into a much older Roll that can accommodate most of my traditional folder. This roll doesn't depend on elastic but, 14 stitched leather-like bands that are threaded through the case to create the loops. It is truly a wonderful case my salesman gave me. This is only a pick of the folder section in the middle of the roll. There are sections on the left and right for larger fixed blades.

What are the major preferences besides display cases?

I wish I had my OLD knife roll back! But, nowadays I kinda like the "knife packs" better. They're flat, and have hard outer panels to protect the knives. But it's a personal thing. Both are good. I like some kind of wood display case for my knives best. Ones I can hang on the walls or sit on shelves so I can easily see them.

I hope see pics of that roll design . I think a craftsman friend of mine needs me. That roll and that  single page of knives make any collector would be proud.

We have a couple of rolls that have the leather instead of the elastic. nowhere neer that big or luxurious.   We use them when we travel but the collection lives in their own containers in the safe.  EDC's... they live all over the house LOL

Have to agree with Ken, the roll and the knives should be a source of pride for you Brad

I love my knife roll, it keeps my knives safe from almost any moisture and protects them from other damages. I have a couple of display boxes, like the ones you would see at a garage sale, or flea market and I love them too. They are used differently though. For long term storage I would use the knife roll, other wise there is something about a little wood and glass that stirs up many a fond memory.

I am trying to find another like mine, my collection has surpassed the roll's capacity for folders.

I have a alum. briefcase I carry the knives I want to sell or trade in. Inside I have a cheap knife roll that I carry knives in that I don't have boxes for. The ones that do have boxes for go into ziplock bags with the knives out side of the box so people can see them without having to open the box every time. I'm looking for a better way and a better roll. I bought a display case out of a store for my keepers because I like to look at them.
