Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I received these two knives in 1997 as an aniversary gift after ten years service with TVA.  I am doing an inventory of my belongings and am working on my knife collection now.  I am trying to come up with a good value to put down as replacement value.

Can anyone help me?

Here are a couple more pictures with the model numbers.

Charles,

I hesitat to answer, this is not a grouping I am overly familiar with.   We may get some better responses in the Schrade group

I don't collect them but a quick search on eBay revealed the Schrade 502SC to be worth in the neighborhood of $65.00 to $135.00 depending on condition,

The Schrade 515SC priced out $85.00 to $105.00.

Hope that helps you just a bit in establishing a value for your collection.

As a matching set in mint condition, with original boxes & COA's...I would put a realistic monetary replacement value of $300.

They did come as a set but there were no boxes or COA's.  Also they have no serial numbers.  They have never been used or sharpened.

At TVA after every five years of service, you receive a catalog from a company named Tharpe from which you select your service award.  I chose these knives as my tenth aniversary award.

I don't know if the TVA engraving has any effect on their value.  It does add sentimental value to me.

I have been looking on the internet and I find several different engravings but no eagles.  I wonder if they are rare?

I had been thinking of valuing them at $50 apiece but I have decided on $75 apiece, at least for now.

I am sure they are worth much more than $75.00 each to you!!! The artist on those knives was John Duffy, He did the art work from 1993 until they quit making the Scrimshaws. Frank Giorgiani did the art work from I believe 1978 until 1992. In 1986 Frank did an eagle scrimshaw that was put on the sc513. Small single blade lock back. I actually have one in my pocket, It is my favorite style to just carry as its small and isnt bulky in the pocket. I will do some more research and see what I come up with. Also I know Schrade did a Bald Eagle Commemorative for "I think" True Value hardware or Ace hardware, Cant remember the year and not sure who did the art work but if I can get a hold of Frank Giorgiani he can tell me all the poop and I will post it if I can. Those are some pretty knives you have, Dont part with them.

Don't worry.  I have no intention of parting with them.  I wouldn't sell them for $200 apiece, even $300!  They have a lot of sentimental value to me.  They were a ten year service award from TVA.  I retired this past November after 25 years.  I would have to be in very dire straits for money before I would sell these knives or several other knives I own.  I am putting a value on them just for insurance purposes.
