Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

One of the things I noticed with those that have and interest with either camping/bushcraft, survivalist training or just getting off the beaten track for a spell, is the lack of notification that they give to others as to their destination and itinerary. Far too often this lack of notification can compound any unexpected and potential snafu caused by weather or personal mishap that could lengthen the time of a more timely rescue/recovery. This could also pertain to those that have to make a living on the road, or by those that make frequent road trips. I just wanted to make known to others within iKC about a web service that will take a proactive measure to ensure that those that care about you will be notified if you have failed to return from you destination at your appointed time. That service is called SendAnSOS, and is located on the web @ http://sendansos.com/ .

Just so you know, this is a subscription-based service, but the fees are reality low for the type of service that they will provide... i.e. Single User @ $9.95/Year, Family (5 accounts) @19.95/Year. They also do Company/Corporate accounts (100 per.)

N.B. I have no affiliation or association, with the company, nor am I compensated in any manner by them.

Kage,
This is really good information. When I used to fly, we would file flight plans and if we were overtime on the flight at least the searchers would have an idea where we were supposed to be and our flight path.

Many national trailheads have a logbook where you sign in and out; same concept I guess.

I always file a flight plan for every trip, and always have for 50 years. You are absolutely right, This is an essential part of the trip, and do file it with someone who will initiate the rescue when you are 4-8 hours late, not 4 days. Then estimate your trip well and show up for the communication schedule. Anyone who does not do this does not deserve to be rescued, if they are of responsible age.
