What's it all about? -
An entire week of martial training, physical challenges and social sessions, all in the glorious setting of the West Highlands of Scotland.
The challenge allows you to train hard, play hard, push yourself, discover, experience and enjoy, all in the purest environment Nature has to offer. Moidart is a land rich in genuine Celtic cultural and combative legends. It still provides one of the most historic, inspiring and challenging training grounds available today.
This land resounds with significant history and beauty throughout. The Highland Challenge offers a rare opportunity to train on this land where broadswords have clashed and legend has been forged. Friendships and lasting memories are now forged along this path of unforgettable personal experience and nature.
This is the setting for the Highland Challenge.
Course cost is all inclusive of -
Transport – Minibus transport from Edinburgh to Glenuig and back, and around various training locations.
Accommodation – En suite accommodation at Glenuig Inn (http://www.glenuig.com/) for 7 nights, which serves as our base of operations for the week.
Meals - Breakfast and packed lunches shall be included in the cost, as Highland air works up a rare appetite! Evening meals shall be paid for individually. This allows all participants to choose from a range of local produce at various inns, where all serve excellent menus using fresh and locally sourced ingredients.
Training – Six days of various challenges and professional martial training in traditional Jacobite weapons of broadsword, quarterstaff and dirk fighting. One day shall be given to an exclusive training session in close quarters combat as taught to British Commandos and Allied special forces in this area during WW2. All training to be progressive with weapons supplied. No experience necessary. All training is given in stunning locations steeped in Scottish martial heritage and legend.
Tuition is provided by Mo. Paul Macdonald of the Macdonald Academy of Arms.
Local Knowledge - As we explore various villages and locations, traditional tales and legends shall be passed on by your local Highland guide!
Each day consists of a morning challenge (exact details of which are not revealed until the day), a full afternoon of training at specific locations and naturally, an evening session in the local bar, all for six days and seven nights straight!
This is as authentic as it gets, as we train on original Jacobite training grounds with traditional weapons and martial techniques.
It all adds up to one unforgettable adventure and experience.
The last Challenge saw participants arrive from throughout the UK, Norway, Spain and the US. Booking is now open and please note that places are strictly limited, so early booking is essential.
