2014 iKC knife...TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE

The time has come to start the discussion on the 2014 iKC knife.

I would again like to shoot for August/Sept delivery date. Something to remember while we talk about this is that a short run of only 50 or so knives means we need to tie in with a maker that is already running a knife and tweak that one to make it our own. The reason for this is most SFO's require a minimum order of 250 or more. Also I would like to keep it less than $125.00 delivered to you. I have some eyes checking out whats available at a factory or two but always love to hear your ideas. Remember, this is YOUR knife

I can add I'm a bit like Alexander Noot and like a Canal Street Cannittler and would be in for something pocket worthy and special. what did you get last year, BTW?

the CanOE/WHITTLER ---THE Cannittler--- was actually origianlly designed by Frank Buster who owned and created Fight'n Rooster Knives...not sure how CSC ended up with the pattern. they make a great one though....i own a few of the ROOSTER ones but not a CSC and would like to.

he also churned out one mean CLUB KNIFE,after another after another and on and on!

jon i personally feel winterbottom is one of the best handle materials. i have a CUSTOM knife made up

with slabs that were some of the last out of the original WINTERBOTTOM factory in EGG HARBOR,NJ.{i also only live about 20 minutes from where the factory stood}

I for one would also like something in a premium stainless. ATS-34 is pretty ok. But I'd prefer CPM154, S90V, ELMAX, M390 or something like that. I don't have a lot of those in my collection and would like the additions.

I'm with you, Alexander - a new stainless. Most of us probably already have 1095, 420, 440A/C & D2 blades. I would add BG-42 to your list as it is supposed to be tougher than ATS-34 and more stain resistent. Problem is, it probably requires a diamond hone to sharpen BG-42, and probably too difficult to work with for a production knife. Just as bad, would be trying to find a production knife company making a run of BG-42 knives that our 50 piece iKC knife could tag along with to keep costs down.

i would also like ATS-34 or CPM154. since i dont sharpen or carry my cluub knives and i "safe" them up.. the ATS-34 blades at least that i have owned make great knivs for "putting up"

but as far as a company when it comes to club knives IMO- no one makes a better all around knife and am all around better CLUB KNIFE then GEC.. again IMO.. so my vote simply would be "almost" -as of course i don't buy everything- anything churned out by GEC.

REASON-since i feel one is due...

last year i grabbed 2 GEC club knives. the total i forget but it actually came in not MORE$$ but LESS$$ then what the same pattern with the same handle materials came in these knives-BUT WITHOUT ALL THE SPECIALS.. it was onloy about 2-4$ less per club knife but the fact that all the folowing speials came with it and it was LESS..is just awesome!

they had their own labels on the tubes,blade etches ,tang stamps and shields..as well of course as COA's. the panning time was pretty short as well. IE-from time of conception of knife until it was done.

my secondary would be CSC!

I already have a VERY nice BG-42 knife. Which is why I didn't mention that. However BG-42 is rare enough that I wouldn't mind another one :-)

Without reading all the posts I am going to throw this out there...has anyone considered the Benchmade Mini-Griptilian?

2.91" 154CM satin finish blade, Axis lock (that I will attest to being one of, it not the best locking mechanism on the market).

A variety of handle colors, thumbstud or thumb hole, spear point, tanto or modified sheepsfoot. Starting at $105.00 retail. I am guessing quantity discounts are available.

Robert Burris has one from the last contest. What say you Robert about your Mini-Grip?

hey brad! good to see ya!.. i have not on the current 2014 but here on IKC and a few other clubs have reccomend the vey same knife or the FULL GRIPPIE.. when we were discussing past knives. you can even go to the websiite and build the knife you want.. and they will even add etching to the blade and so forth.. i would 100% be ok with that.. and have been.. im glad u brought it up.

im always surprised that i dont here about CASE that often myself as well... since their site offers the same abilities.. CASE even has it set up to buy larger quantities right on the site... just a last moment thought...

but back to BENCHMADE..the GRIP is probably one of the best all around built knives. i have owned a few grippies and i have not one complaint! so again i would IMO be fine with this option. i actually like the AXIS lock. and i prefer the full grip but i do have some large mits!...LOL!

Offcourse you don't hear it about Case...I know they're historical and all....but everything I've seen about them (and from them) pretty much says that they have worse build quality than Rough Rider lately. People who've collected Case for decades are dropping them left and right and vowing to only collect vintage Case knives.

Case would not interest me unless it was a Case/Bose knife for <$150 and we all know THAT isn't going to happen since the last Case/Bose knife was closer to $500.

I'd be in for a "tactical" but not a griptillian. I don't like the FRN handle. A Bone Hunter however would interest me greatly especially the small one.
