Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

The time has come to start the discussion on the 2014 iKC knife.

I would again like to shoot for August/Sept delivery date.  Something to remember while we talk about this is that a short run of only 50 or so knives means we need to tie in with a maker that is already running a knife and tweak that one to make it our own.  The reason for this is most SFO's require a minimum order of 250 or more.  Also I would like to keep it less than $125.00 delivered to you.  I have some eyes checking out whats available at a factory or two but always love to hear your ideas.  Remember, this is YOUR knife

Here is a pic of the official annual knives we have done so far

Yes Canal Cutlery, is some fine friends of ours. We need to look at their offerings, also.

Can I get an Amen somebody?

Amen, Canal street strikes me as a nice fit for the group and a stellar manufacturer. But... Can they make us a Wharcliffe barlow with a wine opener... :-)

its hard to know what would appeal to everyone, if i knew that, id have it made. however, my favorite pocket knife is a 2 blade, 3.75" closed sowbelly from schatt & morgan. specifically a 042160 series #5-V. my knife is in wormgrooved bone and id love to have another in smooth bone, exotic wood or stag. this knife is easy to carry, open and closing snap is profound! to me, this 2 blade sowbelly is less likely to incurr blade rubs which many 5 and even 3 blade sowbellys often suffer from. if i could afford and SFO, right now, id order the described knife in stag or perhaps a smooth appaloosa bone or even some pretty spalted wood.

jan all i can say is that you can'nt satisfied everyone all the time, just keep up the good work and do like you alway do and it will work out

Thanks Elbin.  Maybe I am just getting anxious, blade is coming so the decision is near!

I'm really looking forward to what is chosen! My new knives arrrived today the Queen is sooo smooth, and the Northwoods is really like a treasure.

Looks like a Canal Street to me, not a Queen.

Nice though.

Real sweet knives, Luke.

feeling kinda dumb, I posted my Canal Street as a Queen in last night's chat and wanted to set the record straight. this is my Queen #31 congress that has a really stout walk and talk! the one I wanted to loosen up.. Any ideas?

Thanks Robert,

the Northwoods is a really buttery folder with a sharply contrasting agressive wharncliffe main. It has an agressive look and a sweet walk and talk that welcomes opening and... damn its sharp!

Hi Luke - Beautiful knife. Is that a Winterbottom jig on the bone handles?  I love it !! I wish Queen would do more of that and less "worm groove" jiggng. You might try "Frog Lube" (just google it) to "loosen" the action of the blades.  It is an amazing protectant and lubricant.  I use it on both knives and firearm components.  You heat the metal with a hair dryer, apply the product, allow it to dry, and wipe it off. In the case of knife joints, instead of wiping it off, you just work the blades several times  Bonds at the molecular level, and makes steel slicker than teflon. Cheers - Jon Salmon
