Proceeds from the AKTI monthly auction support the organization’s legislative efforts to keep knives in American lives!
The February auction features an A.G. Russell Sowbelly Trapper knife with a Yellow Delrin® handle. This is a 4-1/4” closed two blade slipjoint folding knife constructed of 8Cr13MoV steel with both a clip blade (3-3/8” long and 1” wide) and a Wharncliffe blade (3-1/2” long and 7/8” wide). The liners, bolster, caps and the federal shield are all 400 series stainless steel.
A.G. Russell adds a stop pin that keeps the blades from ever meeting the back spring, allowing space for blades that are wider than those in average knives.
The handle features a Sowbelly pattern – it is smaller at the blade end and serpentine in shape. A.G. Russell takes the commonly accepted serpentine sowbelly and swells the large end. The curved bolster allows a very natural line for the open blade.
Fine workmanship is evident in the finish on the inside of the knife, which is comparable to the high quality, high price semi-production knives being made today. Before putting this knife into production, the prototypes were mechanically opened and closed over 300,000 times to ensure durability.
The Yellow Delrin® handle is a vibrant shade of yellow, making it hard to lose your knife.
The Sowbelly Trapper knife weighs 5.7 oz. This auction includes a handsome brown braided thong for lifting the knife from the pocket.
