Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

That is the question.

I have always been interested in knifes. My first pocket knife was given't to me in my early years by my father like I am sure  most of us here. I own several pieces that I will share with you later.

Now I am confine at home for personal reason and  I have decided to start a real collection and to learn more on that beautiful craftsmanship (Art) of cutlery.

I would like to have advise  any  advice.

My idea for starter is early american pocket knife.Like  the first one your father gave you.

Thank for your time and suggestion.

Roch,

Many collectors find a pattern that they like to collect, some like different makers and some are all over the place in their collecting.

From what you said though, search out a North American knife company and go from there.

Take a look through the photos, here at iKC, for inspiration.  See something that appeals to you, ask about it.

Roch, good to have you here with us. Vintage knives are one of the hardest things to put a value on, and if it is in a used condition, even harder. You may want to study vintage knives a while before buying. I try buy vintage knives that are really not that old, say 1960 to 1989, and are in like new condition if I can. JJ. gave some good advise, search, study and talk to vintage knife collectors with alot of education in the subject. Good luck and have some fun.

Roch .....

I'd suggest getting some of the books out there & reading up a bunch. But do keep in mind .. it's what YOU find desirable that matters most.

If you hope to realize a financial gain  ....................................................... did I mention the books ????

Many thanks... Just received a new puppy westerly  from Florida and this little bitch need attention... I will be looking later.

My dad gave me a Case Green bone Peanut which I quickly lost during one of our moves from Base to base.

Thats a shame, I love old peanuts and anything handed down
