I acquired the knife with an old tool box I was given when my grandfather passed away.  After 10 years I decided to do some research and now I find myself fascinated with the history of it all.  So, the knife is a Western States Cut Co. knife with the older blade stamp that they used from 1911-1950.  The knife is approximately 9" long when opened, has a dog head logo on one side of the handle and as you can see in the photos, it has a locking lever in the back. Does anyone have anymore information on this knife?  Now Ive only researched this for several hours but can someone explain why some Ka-Bars also have the same dog head logo?

Several companies have used the dogs head shield.  In my opinion KaBar is the best know user of it
