This may sound crazy, but, does anybody here habe a sharpening unit or stone they can't live without? The reason I ask is I bought an old "Robo" today at an antique mall that caught my eye. Good price (at $5.00) and works great! Just wonderinf if anyone else out there has came across a piece, or have one, that is just as special as your knives you use them on.

The short answer.....no.

Oh, who am I kidding, I NEVER give a short answer!  I have several that I use and my mood determines what I use next. I like; Lansky, and DMT for free hand. I also have a set of Spyderco ceramic bench stones, Case cock sticks for touch up, and good old fashioned Arkansas stones.

I have an Arkansas stone I use and if I can I will post a picture of it. I really like it and its pretty much all I use.

Kinda partial to the credit card sized diamond sharpners. Followed by ceramic and stroping.

I have an old worn our stone that I like to use myself.

Saying that, the Robo sharpener I picked up yesterday seems to be doing real well. I love the vintage look and the fact that it's still very functional is an added plus!

I have a DMT diamond Angle-Finder sharpener for agressive corrections, a Spyderco Triangle Sharpmaker for touch-ups and a Strop.

Not a great picture but my stone, the box and some honing oil I use on the stone.

Edge source.  It has three stones that rotate into an oil bath.  They are course, medium and fine.

The favorite at our house is a German hone.. extremely fine

Looks good, Steve. Like the picture.
Love my sharpening stones. All of em.
Glad to see others do too!

Thanks I should have taken a better one, a little blurry but it gives you an idea of what I have, when i get time i will take a better one. there is nothing more relaxing than sharpening a knife or any blade for that matter!

I have two. One is two sided and the other is an oil stone.  Both of these were given to me by my father who is now 74 and he is the one who first showed me how to sharpen a knife.

Had a member trying to sell a system to buy a "Wicked Edge" system. I have seen the video of Wicked Edge in action, but not sure you can't just create the same thing with a stone. Maybe it's all about teaching people the geometry of it all?
