I picked up this Colonial camp knife.  Was curious about the shield.  What can you tell me about it.

Olsen Knives were based in Howard City Michigan It seems in the early days they did actually make knives but in later days (70's - 80's) most if not all their knives were made by other companies usually in Germany and Japan. Looks to me they needed a Camp Knife in their range and had Colonial  make them to sell as "Olsen ok Brand" knives.

(I don't pretend to be the 'font of all knowledge' I just asked Wiki and Google)

Charles-What Derek said is correct- A little additional info- OK Olsen started contracting knives in 1970-They went out of business in 1980. From 1982-1985 a group in Grand Rapids, Michigan used the Olsen Knife Co. trademark on hunting knives. OK Olsen also contracted knives from Imperial-Schrade in that 1970-1980 time frame. Unfortunately, Colonial Knife Co. never kept any records of their tang stamps, so it is impossible to date your knifeany closer than 1970-1980.

Thanks for the info Derek and John!

It is a shame that a good many companies did not keep records back them.  But how were they to know that 50 years later we would be knife nut enough to want to know the stats.

It is a wonderful knife Charles and a new shield for me to see, Thanks for sharing
