The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
this is a US M9 ,i wont post Bayonets i know this is a knife forum , but this is classified as a dual purpose fighting knife/bayo so it walks up to the line of bayo but still a kinife, this is the military version albeit appears either un issued or very lightly used , has the Bianchi military holster , this knife is impressive , the feel it has while handling it is amazing , because i is a dual purpose it is sharp and carries the factory edge , never resharpened

oh boy. I hope bayonets are not taboo here. I have posted a fair number thus far. Mine have all been a little older though.
M9 is certainly a newer manufacture (1986 to present?) I think Ontario was one of of the later companies to manufacture the style.
A co-worker of mine (marine reserve) helped me learn that the marines replaced the M9 in 2003 with the OKC-3S. The other branches still use the M9 I believe.
yea ive been on the prowl for a OKC3S , i thought i hit pay dirt on a pretty nice example , issued but not abused , correct scabbard for a fair price off FB Market , fella turned into a weirdo ,said he sold it which was fine , then kept texting me to buy MRE's , then said he would let me know when he gets the blade back from his uncle , i blocked him
i have also been hoping to trip over a nice USMC Mk2
i wasnt sure about bayos , seems some forums get testy when you post knives in a bayo forum and vice versa so i tend to error on the side of caution
my best guess with the RATTEN is it may be for sail boats? but why the painted serial if so

I cannot offer an explanation about the painted SN on the Ratton folder...
The only thing I have that is painted, is a 1905 Brazilian bayonet that has the rack number painted on bayonet and scabbard. I have seen other bays that had the rack numbers painted. Never a SN though.
Odd to see a SN painted... Nice find!
The 'normal' issued Version 2 of the MK2? Do you have a company target?
I stumbled across a version 1 MK2. When I found it, I didn't even know there was a failed version.

the Camillus they issued me they serial numbered so that is what perplexed me , maybe it is Navy , Boatswains use all gauges of line so ,,,,
i cant find much of nothing on it , i think it was $20 so it was a no brainer

no , i do not really get that specific ,i just take them as they come as long as the price is fair and not total dogs , if rough and the price is right ii may grab to fill a hole until a better example presents itself , i did that with the Mk1 USN , i have one i believe had the tip broken at some point and reshaped to remove the damaged , i knew something was off about it but the price was reflective
i have the pawn that has 8 locations and will bring anything from the other locations to my local shop , i have a antique mall that has produced and then a few outdoor flea markets that produce as well , FB market is hit and miss , a lot of flaky people on there but i did get the 5th variation M3 off there for $50 which was a extremely good deal so its still worth suffering the idiots to get a deal done from time to time , still some good people mixed in and fair or better deals to be had , i generally avoid online anymore because shipping has gotten insane , it costs the same now to ship a bayonet that it was to ship a rifle a few years ago , so occasionally i will throw a low bid on ebay to offset the shipping , nothing held so far
