Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

General INFO section...Knife world news and special links for input (POST THEM HERE) for all to enjoy!

I think over the years there have been so many knife sites and info sites, that I have read from page to page...that never get passed on to others and you end up having to surf to find them later..So I thought a special area earmarked just for those would be great...Since I am an avid Case collector and collector of the coke bottle shaped knives of all brands, there will be those links that interest me.

I hope to see the sharing of other members favorite info links so we can all have fast clicks to the world Library of Knives.

Sue

Had a question come up on blade shapes or patterns and i was looking for a complete listing. I found several sources including this one: http://www.the-knife-connection.com/knife-blade-types.html But I wonder if there are ones even better?

Canton Cutlery Company

1879-1930

William S. Carnes, President in 1910

Was established in canton, ohio in 1879

William remained in charge until 1930 when it ceased production

Of pocketknives.

William did buy interest in the company, and eventually was the sole

Owner, Car van steel products he owned also was at the same address.

The firm was chiefly known for the introduction of transparent handle cutlery "Picture Window"

Handle knife.  The knives were used for advertising and depiction of memorable events, and became

A quick fancy to many people and business's.

They did specialize in large folding hunters which were of excellent quality.

The folding hunters are rare and highly collectable today.

Addendum: Novelty Cutlery Co. Canton Ohio this firm was also founded in 1879 but by Augustus Virgnos

Who was a civil war veteran and a previous postmaster of Canton, Ohio. Augustus had lost an arm in the war , he secured the rights to the manufacture of the transparent handle from an inventor s Henry and Rubin Landis  who also lived in Canton, Ohio.

Augustus died in 1925 and his son continued the business  till 1944.

So C.C.C. and Novelty cutlery shared the introduction of the transparent handle material only, business were separate.
