Im just getting into collecting and I was wondering what some good books are and what price guide do most people use. Im am more intrested in the vintage pocket knives, from the 60's and older. Also where do you find most of your knives at on line, thrift stores, flea markets.

Pocket Knife Traders Price Guide done by Buzz Parker and Ed Henley is a great reference guide.   Online is where I buy most of mine but dont jump into alot too soon.  Get to know who you are dealing with

Terry, we do have a books a literature group here which we hope to add more titles to here is the link to the group:

There are some good mentions there. One new one I picked up well old actually is Official Price Guide to Collector Knives. by C. Houston Price and Mark Zalesky. I am sure most of the books mentioned in the group or here are available online or through eBay.

Older knives, say pre 60's are hard to find on-line partly because you don't know the condition. Better to read, gain some experience and branch out to Flea Markets and Pawn Shops. If you can find a few and see them in a book you will better know value. Eventually you may buy some online once you know what to look for. Some knife shows are good to go to as well and you might just see some vintage knives at those.
