The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
In looking through my collection, I find that I have knives from seven countries. Is this typical or are most collectors more focused than me?
China
USA
Pakistan
Germany
Italy
Japan
Switzerland

Ok well you got me curious now! I know for sure at least 6, but I have to check. Gosh that's more than I thought I would have!
The reason I have that many different countries in a relatively small collection (around 100 knives) is due to the way I sorta grew into a collector. Many of my knives were given to me and initially I tended to just pick up knives that for some reason caught my eye. Most were relatively cheap knives also. Lately, especially since finding and getting involved with this site, I have become more focused and am trying to ungrade my collection.
Hmmm..........
U.S.A.
Germany
England
Finland
Taiwan
Japan
China
I think hat's it..........
The most common foreign knives that I have are from Germany and Japan, although I just purchased a knife from Switzerland. I own a few from other countries also. The one thing I have learned by collecting knives from all over the world is you can't associate "quality or lack of quality" with a particular country. An example of what I mean is, just because a knife comes from France means it'll be great. or just because a knife comes from country XYZ, that it will be junk. A good knife or a bad knife can come from most countries. I hope ya'll understand what I'm trying to say. I do enjoy, collecting knives from all over the world.
OOPS! Thanks for jogging my memory Robert. Add Switzerland to my list. I have, and had, a ton of Victorinox knives. My brain cells are dying at a scary rate.
And yes, I agree with you Robert.
Thanks Craig, please don't forget our good friends from France. Well, there is so many places around the world, it is hard to remember them all, that's what makes this a hard "Post", is if you forget one, then someone or a whole country, might take it wroung. Like I have said before, you can't judge the knife, just because it comes from one country or another. There is great knives coming from one country or another. I might, take a little heat with this opinion but I think I am close to being correct. I hope everyones knives, helps bring all the people of the world, closer together. Bless everyone.
I have been thinking about getting a Pukko from Finland for a while now. The ones I am looking at are hammer forged, out of carbon steel. My favorite, blade steel. Yea Craig, it's hard to remember them all. My mom has one from the Phillipines. [I hope I spelled that right] my memory is getting worse everyday. Along with my spelling.
Get a Puukko Robert. There's something cool about a Puukko.
That's what the Finland is for on my list;

Thanks Craig, I have never owned a "Puukko". I am sure they are very well made for the price, they are asking. There is alot of Outdoorsman that call these a "Bushcraft Knife", I guess I am in trouble with them because, I believe in having the right cutlery for the job. All the Bushcrafters of the day, preached the same thing. I better stay off, of this opinion, of the outdoor camping equipment. A Tomahawk or small hand axe is gonna get you through the night, you better believe, THIS.
