iKnife Collector 2012 Community Knife/We Want Your Opinion On Our Next!

Moving forward in bringing to life the iKnife Collector 2012 Community Knife!!!

So far we are all in the pocket knife camp and we have had some great discussions about style..  Thank you Alexander for putting my thoughts into a language we all speak,

Frame first, then blades, then handle materials then extra's?

So far if I have been listening correctly we are looking at

Stockman

Whittler

Toothpick

Moose

Canoe

Barlow

1/2 congress

dogleg jack

My vote is for the Geppetto whittler.  For those of you unfamiliar with the pattern

SO TELL ME WHAT IS YOUR VOTE FOR THE FRAME/PATTERN???

I'm gonna cast my vote for a Moose in stag. Or a 54 with American Walnut handle scales.

Ron,

The price point we are looking at is keeping it 120 or under.  I am working on having something a little special for us this year but don't want to break anyone's bank.  Your welcome, the Blade show is so much fun, I just can't resist taking you all with us.

Chris,

Thanks for the input, I am a big fan of the 54 pattern

Thanks, Jan -- That sounds great!

Have a really good Saturday!

Miss Jan, do you have any idea when you will start collecting for the new knife. Remember last year was a little bit last minute type of thing, that ran over time.

Robert,

Your correct and and I dont want to repeat that this year.  We should have everything together to start offering and collecting the end of July mid august

Thanks Miss Jan, some of us plan on our knife buys ahead of time, so this will help get things organized for our knife buying budget. I can't wait to see what ya'll have planned for this years knife.

Any hints as to what it's going to be this year then?

I agree Alex, she needs to let the cat out the bag, and let us know what it's gonna be...lol

Sorry folks, if I had a solid answer I would just put it out there.  There are still three styles in the running and 2 companies that would like to give us bids.  I dont want to spill the beans on the companies yet but I will tell you what we are getting the bids on

A three blade whittler style with possible stag handles

A wharncliff whittler with lined bolsters in a unique bone

A barlow with no shield but iKC stamped into the bolster

I have asked for all three bids but have only received one.  Bear with me folks, I will get you the best deal and the best knife I am capable of brokering. Please remember that I can only do this during the times I am not working.  By the way I work 6-6 M/f and most saturdays from 8-12

Miss Jan, please don't think we are rushing you, this is all just chatter over the possibilities. There is no one I would want working on this other than you. I feel you have alot of support from the rest of the members. You will never please everyone but I think you will please a bunch. Thanks for your efforts.

Robert,

I always feel the rush because I want to know what it will be LOL.  You have all been absolutely wonderful in helping me have ideas and having material to take to the knife builders.  I certainly could not do this without all of you and in fact, I truly would not want to do it without all of you in this with me.  The determining factor at this point will truly be, what are the specialty items we can get to make it it "our" knife, how can I get the best handle materials for our price point and how many do we have to purchase?

So what so you all think of the possibilities I mentioned?

I love the idea of the Barlow but I will buy any good knife you come up with. I know not everyone can have their favorite pattern, I just want a special knife, regardless of the pattern. I want the best handle material we can get on it but I want it marked IKC very distinctively. Please, know we understand it not easy getting all this. We were just, talking about the knife, one way or the other. Bless your heart for your effort.
