The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
Hello, i was wondering of you could tell me more about this buck knife i have from my grandpa. It looks vintage or atleast old. It says BUCK 124 U.S.A on blade. Iv found a little info online but nothing with this grooved handel.. I attached a couple pictures. Let me know! Thanks
Looking at the handle, I'd have to say the sculpted grip is an aftermarket modification. Doesn't really have the look of a factory job.
Anyway, that Frontiersman was made between '72-'86. I have seen some with a slight sculpting on the grip, but nothing as extreme as yours, which leads me to believe that someone deepened the indentations to fit their hand more comfortably.
I'd definitely agree with Steve.
Looks like your grandpa modified it to his preferences.
