I don't have the Carnivore but I do have a few of the Chinese made Camillus knives  The quality of the build on them is excellent.  As much as I hate to say it, the Chinese made Camillus Rigging knife is better that the old American made one.

My only concern about the Carnivore is that they are using 440 steel for very large blades. The blade stock is 3/16 inch thick but it is 440.  Maybe the titanium bonding makes a difference.  It is sold as a machete but it seems more like a small entry tool.

I disagree with the use of 1095 for a machete as it has about the same hardness as 440.  I'd go with 1070 if thardness is an issue.

And then a modified one after it broke.  Camillus should do this:

Other options you may want to consider are the

Ontario SP8  --1095 carbon steel, hidden push tang similar to the Carnivore, plain edge, 10 inch chisel grind blade w/Saw tooth spine.  Often called a machete but Ontario markets it as a entry/rescue tool not a true machete. Overall length is around 15 inches. (around $45-$50, made in USA)

Or the KaBar Becker BK3  -- 1095 CroVan steel, full tang, 7 inch partial serrated chisel grind blade.  Again this is an entry/rescue tool.  Overall length is  12 inches. (around $80-90, made in USA)
