Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

My name is Garett Finney and I am a knife inlay artist for those who don't know me. I customize Case and Buck knives and my closest competitor is Painted Pony - Michael Prater.

I have originated a few designs that sold very well but there comes a point where I am running thin on design ideas. Really aside from squares, triangles and other traditional shapes there are the usual vertical and horizontal lines but beyond that I guess there are curves. Then it must be moving onto scenes and objects like cars. here's a few of my designs where i try to get out of the box.

Let me know what you all think about design ideas! I am all ears!

You could also consider things like Tribal Patterns and Celtic Designs for non Linear design work. And if you ever need any stones or minerals for your inlay work keep me in mind. I have a lot of Turquoise, Varicite, Jade, Malachite, Azurite, Lapis etc. If you need some it would just be the shipping cost. I would rather send them to a Knife Maker for the Shipping Costs than try to sell it on eBay.

Garett, I have not been ignoring you, just trying to get my ducks in a row, so to speak- My drawing skills are not my forte-Just downloaded a new editing program with which I hope to share some more specific examples in a day or two. This is a VERY rough drawing of a sunrise pattern-Imagine light to dark shades of MOP, gold lip, brown lip or pink freshwater pearl, and black lip  pearl, possibly seperated by nickel silver spacers- Like a sunrise on the horizon-

That can be done easy enough yeap. When I get some time here I will see what I can do

The bumble bee pattern is just that- A stripe pattern alternating something like black water bufalo horn or ebony with a golden stripe like gold lip or amber- Another random idea- How about setting a stone like a  tiger eye stone cabachon in the center of a background like malachite-Cabachons are not expensive unless you get into high end faceted jewels-Insetting a sterling silver charm from a charm bracelet supplier as a centerpiece is also an idea- You just have to knock off the attachment- Many wild life charms available on the web-Inlaying an old coin or something of the sort, might be a consideration-Just throwing random ideas out-You can tell me to shut up anytime-LOL

All great ideas I'm noting them for sure. I have put stones in knives before. I just haven't found the best way to mount them yet. The coin idea is very good but I think it's been done up quite a bit hasn't it? I'm casting some wild turkey feathers right now. See how those turn out
