doesnt look like the ole "pre-ban" is gonna be around much more?// dont think it stopping anything.

im not sure how long a FULL BAN in CALIFORNIA has been in place but here is a quote from the link

http://www.fretboardjournal.com/blog/california%E2%80%99s-ban-sale-...   CA IVORY BAN LINK.  its actually been a fulll an since the 70s but theyare now doing stuff like this..    "Hmm. If not a priority, enforcement at least made the list of required duties on February 5 of this year when California agents raided a flea market, seized ivory trinkets being offered for sale, and cited at least one seller for violating the California statute And, it sure looked like a priority two weeks later when nearly two dozen California agents stormed the Slawinski Auction Company in Northern California and scooped up antique ivory items valued at about $150,000.  THEIR IS ALOTY MORE nonenseand waste of timeo of thisone itts a go0d read.

Thanks for this unfortunate news Peter. But it certainly does affect all folks who enjoy ivory as a knife handle. And then to crush what is there? Well it makes no sense to me and it would appear in a free market make it even more valuable and sought after?

On the one hand that's true Steve. But it also makes it more difficult for people who pretend to sell "legal" ivory.

If there's no such thing as legal ivory, then it's easy to spot people who're selling illegal ivory.

It saddens me though because if they sold all the ivory that has been stockpiled from seizures and "cullings" (in some african parks there are too many elephants and because of this they ruin the local ecosystem, therefore thousands every year are "culled" and often the tusks are sawn off and stored somewhere in a wharehouse.) I think the market price would drop soo hard that illegal ivory trade would simply not be profitable anymore.
