J. Schmidt & Soehne Meat cleaver
Wondering if anyone can help me out with this one. Don't know a lot about this company and this piece strikes me as odd. I will post some pictures and try to describe it as best I can. Please help, I am stumped.

Founded in 1829 by Johann Abraham Schmidt, mainly a producer of bags, meat and table knives. Mainly sold their pieces at trade fairs. Changed their hallmark to DREITURM (Three Towers) in 1856. In 1890 the son of Gustav Schmidt put the production into a factory, and has been producing since from the same area. Company was kept in the family through the 19th century and into the 20th. 1973 brought in the current CEO Axel Schmidt, 5th generation ownership.
