Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

January 4, 2016

There is sad news to report this evening: knife maker Warren Osborne has passed away. The Texas-based knife maker is widely known for his Benchmade collaborations, including the Contego, the iconic 940, and the upcoming Proxy flipper.

Today, the knife community has lost another legend. About a half hour ago, Warren Osborne passed away due to complications from liver cancer and bladder cancer. He was a truly gifted man who knew no limits, and created legendary knives that satisfied several markets from art knives to tactical folders and so much more. He prides himself on being a knifemaker who did everything custom and truly by hand. The world is losing a true pioneer and gentleman today. Rest in peace sir.

Jim Skelton announced the news on his instagram today.

This is indeed a sad day for the knife community.  Although I never met him, we are all very familiar with his creations. Please pray for the family in this time of sorrow.

That is sad news, Jan. His name casts a long shadow in the world of knives. He will be missed, but his name and legend will endure and live on in his creations. Rest in peace, big guy! Naturally, my thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Sadly I wasn't aware of Warren or his knives. I am always very saddened when anyone succumbs to this insidious disease it seems to more and more prevalent. Now having looked at Warren's knives on-line they are in a league of their own and will be a legacy to a truly talented man. RIP

My favorite Benchmade knives are his collaborations. 581 Barrage, 810 Contego & a 940 Gold Class. I will miss his designs and hope his influence is carried on in the community. RIP
