The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
I acquired a collection of mostly case knives but there is one Bulldog in the bunch and a couple of Rough Riders that I don't think have any value but was wondering what would be the best way to find a value and where to list them for sale. I am basically a gun dealer, though I do like to collect a few knives but these were a part of a gun deal and would like to at least pay for the gun. I have 13 Case in all, the oldest appear to be from the 93-99 period on up to recent production. Two have Mother Of Pearl scales. The knives are all new unsharpened but the boxes he sent them in don't match the knives. Out of 13 there was one that appeared to be in the correct box. Any ideas how or where to proceed with these?

Stockman?
Curtis- this a 1999 stockman that was made by Case as a SFO (special factory order) for Shepherd Hills Cutlery and was a limited edition limited to 250 pieces. It sold new in 1999 for $159.00 and were selling in the $200-$300 range even back in 2000.The handles are made of Paua shell,(sometimes called green abalone) the most colorful of the abalones, found only in New Zealand. This knife featured nickel silver bolsters, pins and shield. The shell shaped shield was exclusive to this series of knives. I have one in a trapper pattern. I t originally came in a hinged black velveteen box with a tan Case outer cardboard sleeve---A highly collectible knife !! Haven't seen one for sale recently, to give you current selling prices.BTW, the 1 dot is below the case XX USA on the tang stamp, but sits so lowbelow the USA that itis usually difficult or impossible to read.
Thanks John, that is very good to hear. I have several of the black cases but the brown sleeves all have the wrong names on them except for one. Any idea of how I should proceed to try and sell any of these?
Curtis,
As John McCain said, the Paua Stockman has the most value, considering that the others are relatively recent as well. Still, some of the Case knives may have increased in value since their production dates, but even if they haven't increased much, they are sellable, and you would get some cash back to help with the gun deal. Selling them is easy or difficult depending on whether or not you have an eBay account as a seller. Tons of Case knives are sold there. Some guys here at iKC might be interested as well. Not having the boxes and guts (tissue paper, Case literature, Certificate of Authenticity [that comes with special knives]) will hurt the price a little.
Somebody else will have to help with that, Curtis. I am not a seller here. There are makers/sellers/dealers who sell knives here - you see ads along the side. I don't think that there is a formal "for sale" section at iKC where an average Joe can sell a few knives, but someone else might know better.

I have the tissue, and case literature for most and I have 5 or 6 more that I haven't posted pics yet. Apparently only so many pictures allowed? Not sure but the only thing missing is the correct boxes. I have boxes they just have the wrong names on them. Is there a for sale section in the forum? I seem to be having some trouble figuring out how to navigate the forum. It is a little different than most I am a member of.
Thanks Howard. I have an account on ebay, I just hate dealing with all their nonsense.
Here is the Bulldog:
