The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
Well here it is again, another KnifeCenter.com free shipping weekend. Weirdly, they often don't put that in the subject line of their emails, you have to open it to find out. Maybe it's their way of rewarding those of us who do open their emails...?

As usual, use code FREESHIP in your cart / at checkout. And doesn't apply to large or heavy items -- but works for most knives.
I might not place an order because I just placed a bit of a knife order at MidwayUSA. MidwayUSA is a hunting & tactical store that focuses more on the gear aspects, though they do sell some clothing (more well-rounded than Cheaper Than Dirt or Natchez Shooting Supplies, but not nearly as generalized as Cabela's). Anyway, for their customers they do a special birthday sale that straddles the week before & the week after your birthday (If you give that information). It doesn't apply to everything, but it does apply to a lot of things -- including some knives I had yet to get. They took something like an additional 15% off.
So yeah, I just had a birthday last week. And it was a big one -- one where the prospect of retirement has become a very real thing. Happy birthday to me. Maybe I will make a Knife Center purchase after all...

Dude! Happy Birthday...and on the BIG one too! I would have said more, but I took 15% off so it would be easier to read! :-D
As always, thanks for the info for Knife Center, and Midway as well.
So I'm curious. Where do most of you folks get your knives from?
I've got to admit I pretty much gave up on Knife Center, BladeHQ, SMKW, etc. etc. I still get their emails to check what's going on in the knife world. If something really catches my eye, Amazon is the first place I go to. There's no minimum purchase required; pretty much no wait time.
Some of the high priced EDCs, like TwoSun, you can play around in eBay. I've got a couple of them at real good prices. And I still pick up knives at Home Depot or The Tractor Store (Camillus for example) that I usually beat to death with usage.
Lo and behold I tried to order something from Smokey Mountain Knife Works. I got their Christmas catalog in the mail. Their website does not synchronize with their printed catalog. I called them and they told me it's pretty much two different worlds. If you get the printed catalog, it's almost impossible to order from it on line.
SMKW has always had a pitiful website. They never invested the time nor money in developing a real professional on-line presence like Knife Center or BladeHQ. Too bad!
So as I've mentioned before it's on to Google what I want and hopefully find it somewhere other than SMKW.
