Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Just joined and thanks for the warm welcome. This knife was my Grandfather's who was born the year 1913. But I am not sure when he aquired it. I have not been able to find any kind of markings on it. Anybody have an idea of a rough time frame from the looks? I saw a similar knife online that someone said looked something like a German Paratrooper knife. Thanks in advance.

Hi Bill - well it certainly looks like a vintage butterfly knife, whether or not it's a Balisong I do not know. German paratrooper knife? Um, no...but I can see where one might think it looks like one.

I did find a couple on Google that look like yours and posted as vintage US military...Filipino issue.

I am rather confident others here at iKC will be able to satisfy your request better than I can.

Thanks Lars. I did some googling too and you just never know if the info is good or speculation.

I agree with vintage butterfly.  Are there any markings on it

So basically nobody has any more info than I do. Lol. Thanks anyways.

Bill...without any markings at all, nothing really stands out about this balisong that helps to nail it down. I tend to agree with Lars that it looks like the many Filipino balis that were made from anything they could find. I think your main worth in this is going to be sentimental, unless you can find some serious balisong collectors that could narrow it down. Wish I could help more.

Thanks Steve. Appreciate it.
