Found this knife today in an antique shop wanted some help on the history and the value of it?  It was marked as a parts knife does have some damage.

Is there a tang stamp or only the bolster stamp?

The village of Walden enticed the New York Knife Company of Matteawan (precursor of Beacon) to move to Walden in 1856

A split in the New York Knife Co lead to the formation of the Walden Knife Co in 1870

The New York Knife Company went out of business in 1931

The wood appears to be an ebony which was widely used in that time frame.

Once I get a chance I will post a couple more pictures. It's a cool little peice just not sure what we are going to do with it yet!

Almost looks like the main blade was made out of an old file. Replacement, perhaps? Close-ups of any blade markings will certainly help with figuring out the age etc.
