Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I was recently given this knife in very poor condition and have only been able to recover some of the detail. I know it is from Japan and the stamp reads Original Bowie KniFe. Any ideas as to it's age?

Looks very very similar to an Edge Brand bowie out of Solingen Germany. Any tang stamps or numbers on it?

I'm also thinking German-made based on the style and the Original Bowie Knife stamp.

They did make a Bowie out of Solingen, here is a clear pic of the stamp on the blade:

here is another: Original Bowie Knife Solingen Germany - Picture 1

Little different hilt configuration!

Thought you might enjoy the tang stamp on this one: Original Bowie Knife Solingen Germany - Picture 4

Jason, what makes you think, it comes from Japan?

I found a few of those, Steve...about 3 different fonts.

here is what I did not find ...one that comes from Japan!  Must be marked on the tang somewhere. Manx , yes I found like an entire page of pictures, trying to match the right one up though is the deal.

You know if it is a made in Japan it almost automatically has to be from late 70's to early 80's.

I have a Frost Bowie knife made in Japan and also marked Original Bowie Knife.

The blade has JAPAN stamped just in front of the hilt though I was unable to get a clear picture of it due to the condition.

Thank you to everyone who has given information on this, it is greatly appreciated.

Jason, Your knife looks like something made in the 70's from Japan, back in that day the Japanese were just beginning their industrial revolution, think about what a 1972 Honda Civic was like back and then compare that to today's car, the same thing was happening in the Knife industry.  Hope this helps...
