Salt River, Ky ??????

Picked this Whittler up Saturday - nice solid knife with nice handles. It is stamped US Classic, Salt River, Ky. It is stamped on one of the small blades China - so where does Salt River, KY come in?

Went back to my stash of US C's, last night, and actually found that the "Wedge Whittler" is not marked "CHINA" like all the rest. All three examples are without the imprint. Another oddity is they have the US Classic etch on the back side of the blade.

Almost got into an argument with a dealer in North Carolina, over a US Classic knife.

He tried to convince me that they were made in the USA...

My whittler is marked China on one of the small blades. Wonder why I have never seen one before, maybe just didn't notice.

We bought a few of these when they came out. One of the only knives we ever sold LOL. Not that we didnt like them, they didnt live up to what we thought they were and someone else really liked them so we let him buy them

They are made in China in the same factory that produces Rough Riders. There was a lot of controversy with the company becuase of the tang stamps and deceptive advertising when they were first released. (people were under the assumption they were made in Kentucky. The website is still there but they do not answer e-mail or phone calls so I serisously doubt they are still in production or business. I could be wrong. The company is owned by 3 D's Inc.

I've got a half dozen or so U.S. classics. This is probably my favorite, a Bartender. Like the Rough Rider Bartender, it is patterned off the Case Pattern #130. I bought it because it was the only white smooth bone would I could find. Plus it has a cool shield!

That Bartender is a cool looking knife. But the etch is somewhat deceptive. It kind of reminds me of the American flags, which, upon closer inspection, reveal a label that reads: "Made in China." *scratches head*

Agreed, Ron! It would seem the more American sounding the name more likely the item is Made in China! American Pride, Pride USA, US Classics, Bone Collector USA, etc.
