Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Hello All,

I bought this collection of knives back in 1994 at a now closed knife store at a local mall. I have kept it in the original box since then, taking it out to admire every now and then. I loved these little jems but never wanted to carry any of them in  my pocket, so as not to lose or mess any of them up. Recently, I have thought about selling them. Can anyone give me ant idea of how I should sell them? I mean, I bought as a set.  Is it better to sell that way? And What would be a good sale price as a set. I see these knives selling for different prices individually but would like to keep together. All have Seki - Japan on the blade except the stainless steel handled one which has just japan inked on the blade. I belive when I bought them they were a set for window display. Any info at all would be helpful,  thankyou

Normally you would expect somewhere in the neighborhood of $100-150 apiece, but a complete set is more valuable.  Plus never used or carried and in original box, yes I would say you should get a premium for that.

With a lot of knives I would say you would get more to break them up.  Not with these.  A full sat of these in the original box and unused is just not something you see everyday.  I have asked one of our members that has a few of these for some advise on this.  Thanks for sharing such a fantastic group.

Wow, now that's fantastic! That should bring a hefty sum!

As a frame of reference, one dealer is asking a discount price of $88.25 for a new one in micarta, $104 in bone, $117 in pearl, $124 in Abalone! http://www.gpknives.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=AL+MAR+...

I have seen a set like this on eBay, the seller was asking $1200. I don't know if they got it or not, but I would start there.

Thank you for the input guys.  I have had these knives for a long time and think its time to let them go. That being said, if anyone would like to make me an offer pm me. oh, and I looked at my paperwork in the box and I purchased this set in 1996 not 1994. Also, if anyone wants more pics I would be happy to post more or send them via e-mail. Thanks again!

Blade Show coming up in Atlanta in June and you may want to take them there and see. Never been but I'm sure Money is there and Dealers also, just a thought.

Max,

Blade show may be a fantastic idea on these.  And by the way, Max...we would love to see you come to this one :)

It would be nice to come down but it's not in the cards this time. Planning a big trip to Calif. my Dad's been ailing and gettin' up in years and ain't seen him in 10 yrs. so gotta get out there. it isn't in June but Junes a big time for my business also so it's hard to sneak away.

It would be nice to meet up though!!

Thanks again for all the replies. I don't, or really couldn't make the mentioned blade show to try and sell this set. I would however like some help if I may, and ask for  from the members here. If anyone knows of someone, or can help me with this sale. I really would like to sell these, and would consider any offers. To come clean with everyone my knife collecting isn't that large scale, and although I Do love all kinds and types of knives do not have a very big or grand "collection" of k ives at home. This set is something that I  have just held on to  for a very long time and am looking to sell to catch up with current debts that I have. Just trying to be honest with you all. thank you

There is a set like the one I have here listed on e-bay right know for $1600. I would take $1000. Would be a great buy for someone looking to add to there collection or a way to make some money for individual re-sell.

$900.00 anyone? Would really like to sell this set

Eric,

Not sure if you still have these but I might like to make an offer on them. Let me know. Thanks
