Here is a place to post those Steel Warriors and Frost branded knives. I know that a lot of you out there have them. I have heard mention of them from time to time.. I started really getting into collecting on a lot of these because you could get whole sets for very little money. S0 here is a place that you can show them.

Chuck, Steel Warrior are the only Frost knives that I know of with the rockwell test mark.

Frost Pakistani Bear Claw.Frost smooth bone peanut. All of these in this series are the blue carribean blue smooth bone. They are also Pakistani made with german SS or so they said on CC.I think I bought these in a set for around $50.00. I bought these around 5,6 years ago

Toby, here are the other Ocoee Rivers that I have. These 2 legs are actually my wife's knives.

German steel in Pakistani knives? A couple of weeks ago a flea market vendor told me that Hitler so decimated the animal population that there was not enough raw materials to make scales so German steel was being sent to Pakistan to make knives. I ought he was full of it. Is there some truth to this tale?

Nice Steel Warroirs and Ocoee Rivers Billy.  Thanks for sharing

The flea market guy was full of crap.  The outsourcing to Chna and Pakistan started  about 60 years after Hitler was gone.  Pakistan wasn't even a nation when WWII ended and the population was decimated by the war that once the Marhsall Plan was enacted Germany was at about 100% employment.  Raw material wasn't being shipped in to keep production up.  The reason out sourcing took place was due to lack of material but lack of cheap labor in Germany and taxes.  Same problems happening in the USA.

I thought he was. Probably trying to convince me that since they were knives made of
German components in Pakistan that they should have the same price as one marked Germany. Needless to say I passed on to the next dealer instead.

Well I bought my first Frost Knife....I can't believe it!! Well pictures will have to be tomorrow. This knife was issued  in celebration of 40 years in the Cutlery Industry.  I bought the stockman(of course) and I have to say i am most pleased with the knife. I guess I surprised my self!  Anyway its beautiful, sharp and every bit a good user for me. Pics to follow!

Well its 40 years if you look at the box or the shield 1972 -2012. Just saw these on sale so...just got here or what?

Nice looking Stockman.  Too bad they screw it up with that goofy Rockwell Sticker/Test.

I just picked a Frost Black Squall.  It's a kinda-sorta "tactical" folder.  This is one of those Dealer Dozen kind of knives  you see in those 100 knives $100 CCN promotions.    I saw it at an estate sale. They had about 30 of them selling for $1 each!  So I grabbed one and bundled it in with a bunch of other tools I was buying. All told, I spent about $5 for $15 of tools.   So far so good.  I'm going to take it fishing  for a week and see if I can break it!

Most people know I'm not a big fan of Frost knives.  Still I've had decent luck with some of the traditional pattern Steel Warriors and their Black Hills Brand.   I recently picked up this beauty and might just give some other knives in Whitetail Cutlery line.   I picked it up because it was a reasonable priced  Six Blade Congress. While not a big fan of the Congress pattern, I thought it would be nice to own  a couple of the non-standard Congress knives to fill out my small collection. I paid a little over $21 for this one.  I bought it from eCop which sells from their website as well as on Ebay.

Overall it is an well built, solid knife.  The blades are nicely polished and open smoothly.  They have a good snap and excellent walk and talk with a half stop.  They are also very sharp straight from the box.  The stag looks really good, right up their with they Stag you find on Colt and Rough Rider knives but not as good as you see on Case or higher end knife (But the the knife cost  a fraction of what you pay for a Case Stag knife.

Fit and  finish is excellent. The nickel-silver sunburst bolster really set off the stag.  Knife features brass pins and liners with stainless steel back springs.  Because of the stag, and the three layers of backsprings this knife has some definite heft to it;  Blade thickness is about what you expect on a Congress of this size and style.  Closed length is 3 7/8 inches with two  2.1/4 inch sheepfoot mains.  The cutting edge of the sheepfoots is 2 inches.

This is my first Whitetail. I might have to buy a couple more of these Whitetails if I can find them in Stag.   I'm still cautious about the quality of the Whitetail fixed blades.  I'll need to see some objective reviews before I pick up one of those.

I like that Tobias.
