Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I added the owl and ball in a box along with whatever that thing is on the right for Christmas stocking stuffers for my youngest granddaughter. I cleaned up the owl's eyes and under the beak before sending them off, but I wanted to get a pic before the sun went behind the clouds again, lol. First ball in a box, a little egg shaped but not too bad.

Used a Stubai veiner for feathers and a Deepwoods Ventures carvng knife along with a Case 6308 for the rest.

I think she is going to LOVE them!  Good work Old Guy!  Did you notice much of a difference between the deepwoods and the case?

Thank you. I certainly hope she does - she's young enough to be brutally honest yet smart enough to know which side her bread is buttered on.

Yes, there's an huge difference. The Deepwoods is brutally sharp and made specifically for the task of carving. My Case is old (like me) - well worn but still gets the rough work done. I keep it my pocket mostly for twigs. I enjoy using both.

I'm sure she'll love them also.

Closest thing I've gotten to a dedicated carving knife are my Oar Carver's, though I was given an el-cheapo by Brad O'Brien years ago.

Thanks J.J. Hope she does.

I looked into Oar Carvers quite a bit before deciding to try a dedicated style. The O.C. is very impressive and I came really close to getting one but since I already have a couple pocket knives that I use, I decided to try something different.

What follows is meant as a conversation not a plug and Jan, if it's inappropriate-please delete.

I first heard about DW while watching a YouTube carving video. After I watched the on-site "How Our Knives are Made" video, learned that their knives are forged (not stamped) and read reviews of the different styles, I decided to pull the trigger. I first got their Scalpel style because of the relative inexpense, liked the way it cut and since have acquired others. I sincerely feel that anyone considering trying a "dedicated" carving knife to look at their site if for no other reason than to learn how a craftsman (and woman) make a quality product...ps if anyone reading this decides to take a look, put "knives" after Deepwoods in the search engine or you end up with links for a financial institution.
