Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

This Ulster knife is supposed to be a Boy Scout knife.

However, somebody has boogered it up.  They ground away part of the scale and cut a groove under the shield.

Were they trying to make a counterfeit BoyScout knife?  Were they trying to remove the shield from this knife to put on another?  You can see the shield was either not put on this knife good or was pried up trying to get it off.  Maybe trying to rehandle it?

What do you think?

to me it looks like they were trying to get the shield off to maybe make a new handle, then put the shield back in the new handle.

I think the same, they may have been trying to rehandle it

They sure messed up a fairly nice knife.

Thats a good find right there JJ...Nice work!

Thank you JJ.  I just wish the knife wasn't messed up.

you know, you just never see the white handled ones

Charles, if you want to try and salvage yours- I have a parts knife you can have-- It has 2 missing backsprings, bail is bent, blades are in rough shape and frame is bent near the bail-- However, the scales and shield are in fine shape, although the scales appear to be thinner than yours-- Anyhow-- here are pics of it-

Together they may make one fine rebuild

I got mine in 1969 when I was a scout I wasn't fond of the lanyard ring so I broke it off , chances are some twelve year old thought he was going to make yours a 'springer' JD

Thank you J D.  I hadn't even thought of something like that.  But I'd say that some kid trying to make his own modification is a definite possibility.

Charles I have this Ulster BSA knife just sitting in my collection, if your interested in putting it in yours let me know.  Terry
