Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Hi all.. Hope you had a fun but safe New Years Eve.. Ok, here's my problem. My brother in law sells knives and he is under the impression that these belt buckle knifes are not the ones that have been listed under the Calif Prohibited firearms laws. The photo I have is one I kinda put together with first, the firearms law and then on top of that I put what the penal code says and on top of that I put the back of a business card that a knife dealer gives out with every buckle knife. So the knife you see is NOT his but its one I had here made by Maxam. I also dont understand the wording on the card either. It seems to be wording the penal code but yet tells buyers that if the police give you problems, just show them this card. This is why my brother in law and I are tiffing. I have no issue with this seller at all. I just want to know if the law applies to every buckle knife or just certain ones. Thanks so much, Cindy

Cindy,

In all my research it appears that the CA 2008 Dangerous Weapons Control Law (12020 thru 12040 Unlawful Carrying and Possession) is still enforce.  They specifically state, as you have posted above, the banning of ANY belt buckle knife.  A good resource, that will know if that law has been amended would be http://www.akti.org/

Hi Jan & thank you for the info. I started going thru it all and I had to take a break cuz there is alot of loopholes. Just when you think you understand it, the next paragraph reads a different way, but I will keep reading. There is a knife on ebay right now and it looks just like the ones I saw a little while ago while I was searching the laws and the knives I saw ranged from 500-700. This seller is selling (starting bid) 50.00... It has 14hrs to go and I think someone should take a peek.. Here is the item # : 130621754592... I hope its a good deal for someone.. Take care and thanks again!

There are certainly some folks here that would be interested in this item.  Thanks for sharing with us.  It is a great peice in reallt good shape.
