I just got a nice old fruit knife. It was given to me as a gift from my daughter who lives in England. It has a pearl handle and some hall marks. A lion, stands for England, I gess. A crowns is a symbol for England. TM is the maker's mark and means Thomas Marples. But there is a hallmark that I dont known what it does mean: 5
Does some one can help me on that?

Looks like a "5" to me.

  1. Thomas Mason was a jeweler
  2. Thomas Mynd made spoons
  3. Thomas Millington made knives in the first half of the 19th century
  4. Thomas Marsh and Co made tableware
  5. Thomas Marples made mostly knives in the second half 19th century
