Now here's a Case pattern that I've never had. I think it looks like a neat little knife. Once again I wish it had CV blades, but I think I might have to get one!

Hi, yes, it’s a nice pattern, and you can find it with CV blades, but IMO only as vintage. Steve Pfeiffer (Collecting Case Knives: Identification and Price Guide, pp. 128 – 130) gives precious information on this 27 pattern, and writes: “From the XX era through the time the patterns were discontinued (…), chrome vanadium was the only blade steel offered on the 27 stockman and jack pattern.” (p. 130).

Here a picture of a five dots (1975) 6327 stockman (Delrin handles, secondary blades: sheepfoot and spey).

BUT you currently find (have a look on eBay) various patterns of vintage or new (2012!) stockmans,  affordable and quite beautiful:

and more...

Thanks Jean-François!!

That's a nice five dot you have there!

Even with stainless blades, I think I'm going to have to get one. Do you have one?

Craig, I don't have any. I find this #27 pattern too small for me. I prefer #18 or 47, especially with 3 blades + punch.

What would you say of these ones?

This 3 5/8” vintage Case XX # 6318PU stockman (produced in 2001) has jigged amber gold bone scales; bolsters, shield and pins are nickel silver; the liners are brass – nothing very surprising. But she features a somehow peculiar and interesting set of blades, featuring in one and the same knife the two kinds of steels used by Case: master (clip) blade and medium (spey) blade are hi-carbon, chrome-vanadium  (CV) steel; the third one, the punch, is stainless steel (SS):

Case offers now again the same combination (2012 production): Case XX yellow composition medium stockman with punch #3318PU CV. Blades: CLIP, SPEY AND PUNCH. Length closed: 3 5/8":

This #6318PU, 3 5/8" closed length, amber jigged one handle, nickel silver shield and bolsters, brass pins and liners, has three CV blades:

And didn’t you see this very nice one on eBay? This seller has currently a lot more of stockmans.

That's a nice one! I also like the 18 pattern, and will get some. But I do like small knives. Peanut, 33 pattern, and the 27. But the 27 is one Case pattern I've never had. I think that will change next week! :)

Ordered my first EVER 27 pattern. I wonder if it sees my new 33 and my Peanut it gets into a rumble with them! :I

Finally got a 27 Stockman! It's a little beauty. Just a teeny tiny bit smaller than the Peanut. As much as I like it, I think......maybe.......I like the 33 better.

Amber Bone................

And here's my second 27 I just got..........
