Corelon is a product developed by Michael Prather Enterprises of Flintstone, Ga. (he does not call it corelon, but I can't remember exactly what he called it). Case ships the knives to His shop and he puts the handles on and sends them to Frost and one dealer in Kentucky. So rest assured all these knives are truly made in the USA. If you are not familiar withe Michael Prather his products are better known as Painted Pony. I have been to his shop several times and even toured the shop where all the work is done. He has a couple of barrels of old scale materials he has taken off Case knives before they started sending them without scale already on.

Tobias like I stated in my other post he does not call it corelon he called it (micro< something) when I visited his shop I watched them make it. Now Frost may have the TM on the name Corelon that's true. I have seen his workers attach this to the Case knives so I know from first hand it's done there.

Definitely not one to argue.  We might be splitting hairs.  This is one of those things that would be a better as an  in person discussion than one done via a email/news group. 

My point was I don't know that all the Corelon Case knives  were done by Prater.  I recall Case having a hissy-fit over the early ones and I've only recently heard Cutlery Corner Network  mention Prater as supplying the after-market handles to the H&R and Case knives.

I know Prater uses something called "Mica Pearl" for knife handles.  Is that that the word you were thinking about? It is also  an Acrylic resin.

In any case I've read very few complaints about the Corelon handled Case knives.  In fact the complaints would be about the same that I've heard about ANY Case knife.  So the quality has always been there even with the earlier knives. Those who collect acrylic and celluloid handles seem to like it.

That said, I wouldn't put these on the same level as Prater's  Painted Pony knives  (and it is obvious from your post, that you didn't do that.)

The only problem I have wiht the conclusion that the knife in question is part of the fire in the box series is that there is no yellow color on the knife handle.  All of the fire in the box pictures on the net has some yellow on the knife. In addition  there  there is no engraving on either of the knife blades.  The mystery continues!
