Looking at a bear and son folder because I don't have any of that brand in my collection. But I see they are comparable to case in price. Company vs. company which is superior knife if price and style are the same?

You can never go wrong with a purchase from Case. I think in terms of long term collecting always a good choice. However I do think Bear&Son do a nice job, I have a few of their knives and I would not hesitate to buy more.

I fully agree with you Steve! Personal preference would be the deciding factor. I prefer Case but since you don't have a Bear & Son you might want one so you can decide for yourself.

I have a few Case and one Bear. Case seems to have an advantage in steel. Is it the type of steel or the heat treatment? I don't know, but Case does have that advantage. I do like my Bear and Son Muskrat. It does have fit and finish issues, but I have seen other Bear knives in stores that do not.

Thanks for advice

I love all my Case.....and that would be my first choice, BUT, if you see a Bear and Son and you like it.......buy it!

I appreciate all your advice. As I was standing at the display trying to pick the knife out my eyes wandered to another American made classic, the buck 110. More heft, same price, and scabbard. Guess bear and case will have to wait for another day.
