This would be an interesting knife, I don't know that it would be the most user friendly for me, but I'll have to see it first. So many blades, and so little time.
LOL, your right Johnny.  Maybe congress would let us print money for all those blades?
Jan, let me know if you can get that approved with congress. My GEC knife budget has gotten about as big as the national debt! The whalers aren't helping things either. Is there a relief & recovery act for knife collectors?
Tom, We are going to have to see if NKCA can start proposing that one for us!!  So lets all pay our dues, join, renew... and see if we can hire a lobbist for that

Jan,

I'm on board for that!

GEC has the photo up.  Looks nice, but I question the need for 4 straight blades.
I agree Bass, I will probably pick up one or two of them but I'm having a hard time getting too excited about this one. I wish that they would have made the Tuna Valley stockman in the handle materials that they have chosen. At least that way there would've been a bit more variety & versatility. I know that it's hard and costly to come up with new frames like the Whaler, French Kate, Templar and the other newer offerings this year but the #53 frame is getting a bit played out. Whats next a hawkbill blade on the #53 frame? Why not bring back the #54 at least? I know I sound like a broken record but I would like to see a scout knife and a traditional whittler, others have asked for a sowbelly. TSA's blog today was asking about interest in smaller knives. I suppose a gentleman's knife for Sundays would be ok (read yawn) if it were made in pearl, black lip pearl, abalone or something equally classy but how many of those can a guy collect? I'd probably only buy a half a dozen but wouldn't be that thrilled in doing so. I can't get that excited about a 2" knife myself - not something I want to brag to the guys about (maybe it's a guy thing)! Something a bit more drastically different would sure be welcome. Something that makes even the strict collector pull it out of the safe and turn it into an EDC - a knife that begs to be used!

Tom, I have a feeling that your not a peanut guy?

I am.... so no peanut bashing.... I want GEC to make one. : )

I don't need this one... will I get one.... probably, but it will be a different handle material. I'll use it for something I'm sure. We shall see, and I know this will be "The Knife" for someone, and best of luck to ya.

Different strokes for different folks, it's what makes the world go around..... that and peanuts, so come on GEC lets get it done.... after the scout knife of course. : )

Johnny, you are right. I should not bash peanuts or #53 Congresses. Some folks might be more attracted to it than I am initially. Some may collect it just cause they make it in certain handle types. I like the new dead skunk (at least in other patterns) so who knows? It may grow on me too after awhile or once I see it in different handles. Not much into peanuts - I do have a Case one in delrin. GEC seems to put their own twist on things so a peanut by them might be "The Knife" for me...after the scout knife of course (in American Elk, Burnt and Red Stag, Pocket Worn Red Bone or Rogers Jigged Green Tea Bone). How about a peanut in red spiral cut buffalo horn? And a gentlemen's knife if well done would be ok too I guess (I have an old pearl handled original Northfield one that has a broken blade in my photo album). You are always the optimist! I take a little warming up to get there...glass starts half empty for me I guess.

Tom, I like the way you think........ I just need a better job now.

You can bash anything you like, it's a free country, but GEC has ways of hearing these things.... then.... no peanut.: (

(Just kidding) The heck with the peanut, I'll take one of them Red bone scouts and I'll call it a day.

Now that would be The Knife.

Johnny,

I could use a better job too or at least more work to support my knife habit. I think GEC needs to put you on the payroll just need to figure out your title. How about Consumer Liason and Field Tester Extraordinaire! I appreciate your support of my scout knife request from GEC. Maybe in your new position at GEC you could make our knives happen! The Scout knife would also look good in the red spiral cut buffalo horn too or maybe even musk ox. I have seen a few Randall Made Knives with musk ox scales and that is some wild & crazy stuff.
